What is a BarCamp?
BarCamp is an unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. The BarCamp Chennai 2 focuses on some the interesting technology trends out there, showcased and talked about by people who use them. It takes place at IIT Madras on October 18 & 19.
BarCamp is an open, welcoming, once-a-year anytime-in-a-year event for geeks to camp out for a couple days with wifi and smash their brains together. It’s about love and geekery and having a focal point for great ideas, like FOOcamp but open.
The event will be free or very close to free. But there's a catch! Partipants are expected to contribute back to the conference by participating actively. "Active participation" might mean giving a presentation, helping with a presentation, blogging or podcasting the event, or whatever other creative ways to contribute people can come up with.
There is no audience. Only participants! This is unlike any conference you have been to before. It's new, it's different and it's going to happen in our city. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join. When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers. When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.

What will be Discussed at the BarCamp
Barcamp is a event to share ideas and spring new ones. There are no explicit speakers, the participants speak/ present on a topic. (You are also welcome to present or speak on any topic in technology) Speakers decide upon allocated time slots and in most cases the session becomes a discussion rather than a one sided speech. While most of the events will be technical, there are a whole lot of things that will be discussed in this edition of barcamp. To Check some of the proposed topics, click here. To learn, meet people who share different interests, contribute, and push yourself and your thinking.
When?
The BarCamp Chennai 2nd Edition is to be held on the 18th and 19th of October, 2008. The event will start at 9am and end at 6pm on both days.
